ESRB Hints At Giana Sisters DS U.S. Release

An update at the ESRB’s site indicates that Giana Sisters, the dual screen remake of the Commodore 64′s famous Super Mario Bros. clone, could be coming to North America soon. The ratings board previously listed the platformer, which released in Australia and Germany in 2009, years ago, but it now has Destineer marked as the publisher.

Adding new graphics, features, and levels, Giana Sisters DS has been praised by gamers in the few territories its released so far. It was notably developed by The Great Giana Sisters co-creator Armin Gessert, who passed away in November 2009, and his studio Spellbound Entertainment. It was the last game Gessert completed before his death.

German developer Bad Monkee released a port of the DS game to iPhone/iPod Touch in June 2009, which you can download for $4.99. It also intends to release an iPad version of the game.
